Sharon Sims is a Senior Trainer and Consultant with FTC Prevention Services. In this capacity, Sharon conducts workshops, trainings and educational seminars for a range of programs and services. Sharon’s experience ranges from conducting training on alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse issues, to personal safety and crime prevention including consulting on a variety of safety and security assessments.
Sharon has conducted trainings for a variety of agencies and organizations (federal, state, and local), social groups, churches and businesses. Drawing on fifteen years experience in government, law enforcement and community outreach, she shares practical information in an entertaining, inspirational, enthusiastic manner. Fueled by her personal experiences and a passion to positively influence the decision-making of today’s youth and how adults relate to youth, Sharon offers passion unparalleled in attempting to positively change attitudes that result in a positive behavior change.
Having spent thirteen years employed with the Jackson Police Department in Jackson, MS, Sharon embraces the importance of prevention and intervention in maintaining a balanced, productive society. Sharon spent years working with crime victims in the Violent Crimes Task Force and served eight of those years as a Crime Prevention Specialist. She has also worked closely with troubled youth in her community and surrounding areas. Prior to joining FTC Prevention Services, Sharon worked with Project Recovery for the Mississippi State Department of Mental Health following Hurricane Katrina as an Outreach Counselor where she was awarded for her services to the victims of Hurricane Katrina in the state of Mississippi. She is a certified American Red Cross Disaster Assistance Volunteer.
As the mother of three teenagers, Sharon has also served in several volunteer capacities with the local PTA, PTSA, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts, Inc. and B.I.T.E.
Sharon is a Crime Prevention Specialist certified through the University of Kentucky, holds a Bachelor of Science in Management degree from Belhaven University and is a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society.
